Just Show Up – How Abuse Survivors Can Relate to Good Friday & Easter Sunday

We, as survivors, can relate to these next few days in a very intimate way that most others can not. Due to circumstances beyond our control we have been thrust into a ‘darkness’ (death) because of the abuse we have suffered in our past (or for some are currently suffering)…

Even in the deepest depths of that darkness there is ALWAYS the promise of RESURRECTION INTO THE LIGHT.

We have to make that effort to look up, to seek out the light, to allow ourselves to be resurrected and free from the emotional chains the abuse left behind.

Today is Good Friday, a day our Lord was horribly abused physically, emotionally, verbally, and psychologically. He was abandoned. He was forced to take on the shame of sin that was never his. And he was put to death.
Jesus knows your sufferings.

On Easter Sunday, my prayer for us all is to be able to EMBRACE OUR RESURRECTION. Jesus’ resurrection is OUR resurrection. We have HIS STRENGTH within us. We have HIS power within us. We too were never meant to remain in that darkness.

“You were once darkness but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of LIGHT.” Ephesians 5:8

You are in my prayers.
